Papers are signed!

Last Wednesday I finally signed the papers with the business broker to put the cafe on the market. Ah! Ok, so know I just have to hope that the it sells fairly quickly. All prayers and good energy would be much appreciated.

Oh! And that I'd figure out what I want to do with myself. *sigh* Can you say stressful? *L*

Also, my niece and nephew are here for the week for Grandma Camp. It's only been two days and I'm already exhausted. They sure are pretty darn cute though.

I've been real boring lately.

Yeah, I really don't have anything exciting to post. Except that I finally contacted the business broker and I've gotten things rolling on putting the cafe on the market. I'm meeting with her Monday to sign everything. Exciting and scary. Now I'm paranoid that I won't be able to find a new job. I'm sure it'll be ok though. I have to get out of my town and pay off some credit card balances, so I really don't have a choice. Wish me luck. *L*

What have I been up to?

Yesterday I dropped a plastic bin lid (where I keep my extra pasta and stuff at the cafe) off the back of the storage shelf and it fell on a bottle of chocolate syrup. Yeah, the whole bottom of the bottle exploded. Luckily it was sugar free, but you know... still a huge mess that took forever to clean up when I was supposed to be making strawberry pies for a catering order. But funny thing, I didn't have the strawberries yet 'cause my mom wasn't back from Costco and you just know that's when the people showed up to pick up the order. *sigh*

Oh! And I just realized that my brother from Houston who was supposed to be coming to visit this week never showed up. I figured I should probably ask my mom what happened. Our conversation when a bit like this,
Me: "Hey mom. Wasn't Andrew supposed to come home this week?"
My mom: "Yeah. But he bought a new house and was wiring it for sound. Didn't you know? He didn't go anywhere. He stayed in Houston."
Me: "No! Nobody tells me anything around here! So, he's not coming at all then?"
My mom: "Not 'til Thanksgiving. And if you're not here when we're discussing something I don't know if you're here or not. I figure you'll find out."
Me: "Great! My family doesn't even know when I'm here or not. Thanks!"
My Mom: "Lily..." (this is my 3 year old niece's name. Yeah.)
Me: "Did you just call me Lily!? I'm so glad you love me enough to remember to tell me anything important, to notice when I'm here and to even know my name!"

My family is so awesome. *L* This isn't the first time that they've neglected to tell me something. I never have any idea what is going on! Oh, and nobody listens to me. I tried to tell an interesting bit of information that I read recently in a book (Guns, Germs and Steel: The Fate of Human Societies), which was absolutely related to the conversation and nobody, and I mean nobody, cared. *sigh* I don't even know why I try. All I know is that I really, really need to move out. I just have to remember it's coming soon. As soon as I sell the cafe, I am so gone!

Hey! I literally just found that earring back that I lost like 5 days ago. *L* My life is hilarious! My best friend who works for me, is trying to be a screen writer on the side and I've told her over and over again that she needs to write our story and it will make her famous. I mean, crazy, hilarious shit happens to us all the time! I can't even remember it all to write it down here when I come to post. I guess I'm just so used to it that it doesn't even phase me anymore. *shrug* But yeah, ya'll will know me when she finally writes it and it becomes a big hit movie. Oh, and you'll know which one it is too 'cause she's making my character obsessed with Jensen Ackles. And I said, the only way you can do that is if you have my character meet him and he's actually in the movie. Yesterday I said to her that she better hurry up and write it soon or Jensen will be too famous to want to be in it and she said that she could pick someone else and I said, "No! You have to pick him 'cause that was how I was gonna meet him!" *L* She got all offended and said I was just using her. Which is only partly true. I think that people would love our story. And probably more people would identify with it than we think. And I really do think it will make her famous. *nods*

Mm... also, I've been working on a "homework" assignment from rusticreel which involves embroidery. Now, I've put in my time in 4H (Represent!), granted I was mostly into rug braiding, but I've also done a bit of cross stitch in my time as well, so I felt that I could maybe do it. *shrug* Plus, I just really felt bad for her 'cause she has so much to do before September and would probably not get it all done without help. I'm too nice. *L* I feel like it's going pretty ok. I've only stabbed myself hard enough to bleed a couple of times. And the letters are coming out in an almost ok way. I just hope she doesn't make me tear everything out and start over again when she sees it. I just sent her a picture of my one finished square and am anxiously awaiting her feedback. *is crossing fingers* I'll admit though, it is more fun than I thought it would be.

Also, I've been thinking lately that I don't think it's too much to ask to be able to meet somebody cute to make babies with. I mean, it's not like I'm asking for world peace or anything! Right? But I guess that's something I have to take up with the Big Man upstairs. *L* I guess I just been thinking a lot lately about how it's probably good that I've never had a boyfriend 'cause I've had a lot of time to figure myself out and develop a personality. Oh, and I've had time to develope lots of diverse interents and to learn how to do all sorts of things for myself. 'Cause there's nothing that bothers me more than people who can't be by themselves! Does that bug anybody else? I mean, I've been doing it for almost 24 years and I'm pretty ok! (I suppose that's debateable. *L*) But really, chronic, pathological co-dependency makes me tired. What's the point? It won't ever fix anything. You have to be able to do that for yourself first. Right? I mean sure, it'd be nice to have someone to bounce ideas off, but isn't that what friends are for? Sorry, sorry... I'm getting a bit ranty. Sorry. I'm not sure where that came from, except I've just been thinking about it lately, I guess.

Anyway, gotta go eat 4th of July dinner with the fam (who loves me so much! *L*).

I just dropped my earring back and can't seem to find it. Now come on! It doesn't just disappear once it leaves the back of the earring. Right? Right!? I'm fully aware that it is, in fact, my fault that this happened. I've been known, on occasion, to play a bit with my earrings (See: All the time *L*). So yeah, you'd think I would have learned my lesson since this is about the 100th time this has happened to me. But no. There's something comforting about playing with my jewelry for some reason.

Anyway, Germany made it to the European Soccer finals and they're playing Spain on Sunday. I'm not sure who I want to win. They should be pretty evenly matched. So maybe I'll just watch and not cheer for anybody. Yeah right. I'll probably end up cheering for Spain 'cause their goalie is cute. *facepalm* I am such a shallow girl. *L* But really, when the teams are both good and pretty much evenly matched and you don't really have a preference for who wins, how do you pick who to cheer for? You have to have some sort of decision making process. Right?

Oh my gosh!

So, I was just sitting hear catching up with all my LJ friends and sipped my glass of water and totally spit it out all over my computer screen. I had to cough. *facepalm* I am such an idiot.

I think I'm gonna go see The Metal Masters: Motorhead, Judas Priest, Heaven and Hell and Testament in August with my brother-in-law. Sounds like good times! I'm so glad he's decided to reconnect to his middleschool heavy metal roots 'cause I don't have anyone else who would go with me. I think we'll have fun. *grin*

Goooo Germany! (I've lately become obsessed with the Eurpopean Soccer finals. Very thrilling! It's really making me miss playing soccer though. I may have to check into the local rec leagues.) Germany is playing Turkey on Wednesday. Everyone cross your fingers for those good ol' Germans!

Oh! And some creep on Facebook is harassing me, asking for "any chance of a quickie" on the Social Me application. Ew... Nice guys! Where, oh where are you all?! *is shaking head* Although, I must admit that sadly enough it is a bit flattering. I mean, I don't get a lot of attention from guys. Mostly 'cause I'm a little too much of a strong woman for the men in my area. (See: extremely religious and conservative. When I first opened the cafe about a million people asked me if I was running it with my husband. When I said, "No, in fact I don't even have a husband", they looked all shocked and didn't quite know what to say, and mostly just walked away uncomfortably. *shrugs* I must be quite an anomaly.)

Um... now I'm gonna move on to the movie review section of my post. *grin* I've seen a lot of movies lately, don't ask me why.
Eastern Promises: Very good. (Especially the naked fight scene at the end. *giggle*)
The Happening: Very good! (Mark Wahlberg is adorable! Though it made me question if I'll be able to see Jensen's My Bloody Valentine. I had to cover my eyes a couple times. I mean, I'm not a real fan of plain old gore. But 3D gore? Meh... we'll see. *L* Oh, who am I kidding? I'll probably see it. The things I'll do for that boy. *is shaking head*)
Borat: Hi-larious! (Did anyone watch the deleted scenes? The one where he's at the grocery store going through every single kind of cheese and asking what it is? That poor grocery store employee. He had the patience of a saint 'cause I would have lost my shit! It seriously lasted 15 minutes! *L*)
Tranformers: Shia Labeouf, what a cutie. And the movie was actually better than I thought it would be. Transformers, what a blast from the past. I remember watching them when I was little (really little, but still little). I'm glad they did a good job though. Not like with Underdog! I mean, he was a real dog! How stupid was that? How was he supposed to change into his superhero costume? How!? *is taking deep breaths* Ok, I'm calmed down.
Disturbia: More cute Shia. Actually a pretty decent teen horror flick.
New Indiana Jones: Loved it! The first ones are pretty much three of my favorite movies of all time, so I was a little worried. It was really good though.
The Money Pit: I've seen parts of this before, but never the whole thing. It was hilarious! And how young was Tom Hanks? What a cutie.

Also, just finished reading Guns, Germs and Steel: The Fate of Human Societies by Jared Diamond. Definitely recommend it. Very informative and readable. It's a bit like a text book (which makes you feel smart) but actually entertaining. Now I'm reading The Tipping Point by Malcolm Gladwell. Also a bit text book-y. I just found out my friend who just graduated with her Master's in Criminology had to read it for her degree. This one is actually really interesting too. Also recommened by me. *grin* I'm not sure why I'm reading such 'smarty pants' books of late, except that maybe I want my brain to be challenged again. I like to feel like I'm learning things even though I'm done with school now. Ya know? (Kinda like me trying to teach myself how to speak Welsh. *L* A work in progress. And a bit harder than I thought it would be.)

Ok, I'm not sure why anyone will care to read those last couple paragraphs. Mostly I just typed them up for me 'cause I was thinking about them. *shrug* Maybe someone will get something out of it. *L*

My sister bought my brother-in-law Guitar Hero for Father's Day and my cousin brought his Wii to the beach. Needless to say, we spent way too much time playing. It was so much fun though. And hey, I was on vacation. I swear, though, it is so addictive!

But anyway, I'm home. Back to real life. It was actually kind of nice to get back to work and my normal schedule. Ok, so exciting stuff that happened to me the last couple days at the beach and since I've gotten home.

I fell off my shoes on the board walk. *facepalm* I was wearing my super cute platform flip flops and we were walking on the Tram Car track ('cause it was concerte and more level) and the Tram Car was coming towards us, so we had to move off the track. I went to step off onto the wood and my shoe landed right on the seam and the concrete was a bit higher than the wood and I crumpled into a little ball. *sigh* Then my brother and cousins laughed. Though to be fair, I probably would have been laughing at them too.

Pinkalicious and Purplicious were both hits at my niece's party. All her gifts were wrapped in pink or purle paper, and most were pink and purple themed. It was really cute. My sister and I even did all the food in pink and purple. Which is a lot harder than you'd think. We had to get a little creative. I mean, we used salmon and a creamy tomato sauce which were both a bit orange-y, but you know. My niece didn't care too much. She was busy playing with all her new stuff.

My car flipped over to 100,000 miles on the way home from the beach. And we were listening to Ozzy's "Crazy Train" when it happened too. \o/ (I have pictures, but they don't seem to want to load right now. *shrug* I'll try a bit later. *grin*)

I had to make sure I posted these 'cause it was mighty dangerous trying to get a good picture while driving. A little dicey for a bit. The second one I actually did have to pull over to get a decent (see: actually legible) shot. But I vowed I'd get good use out of them 'cause well, it was pretty exciting. I never rolled a car over to 100,000 miles before. They were always well over when I bought them. So yeah, it was pretty cool.

And one more for good messure. That's my cousin Sarah and me on the boardwalk with that giant hot dog. (That's what she said! *snickers* I'm so mature.)

Um... that's about all I have that's even remotely exciting. Oh, work has been busy since I got back. So that's good. But yeah, that's it. *grin*

Relaxation. Yeah...

Family! *is pulling out hair*

But I digress... the quick run-down for the last couple of days.

Saturday: My family got all packed and headed for the beach. Which means I got the rest of the day to myself at home. It was sublime! Then I went to meet some friends for dinner. My good friend is moving to San Francisco on Wednesday, so we met up with him and caught up and said goodbye.

Sunday: Made the drive down to the beach with my cousin for company. Spent a few hours on the beach and then headed out to the boardwalk in the evening. Not too exciting. I guess the people watching was the best part. I'd say though, that if I wanted to feel like I fit in I should have been dragging 4 kids around. Everyone looked so young! I couldn't believe it. I swear that 3/4 of them had to still be in highschool. What they were doing with children, I have no idea.

Monday: Today I spent most of the day on the beach. My tan is shaping up quite nicely. Um... that's about it. I think we might be going to do a bit of shopping in town. So... yeah.

I know tomorrow is my niece's party. I've been helping my sister plan the menu. Even all the food is going to be pink and purple. It's going to be fun.

More to come...

Ok, that was fun.

Ah... the good old days when you could spend hours palying MASH. And finding ways to *cough*rig it*cough* so that you got the life you wanted. Good times. *L* Though I must say, I do feel a bit dirty marrying Shia Lebeouf. So young... yet absolutely adorable! He's legal, I suppose that's all that really counts.

Oo! Oo! The writer's block question: Vampires or Werewolves? Vampires. Of course.

Oh, and click the cut if you're interested in a crazy thing that happened to me this week. I guess that's what I get for saying I'm boring. *L*

Craziness happened to me on Wednesday. Ok, it really started Tuesday, but here's the scoop. I rearranged my day off 'cause Wednesday is normally my day off, but we had catering, so I switched it to Tuesday. Good thing too. One of my employees called me Tuesday afternoon and informed me that the lights in the kitchen weren't working. Yeah... how does that even happen!? So I called my dad to go take a look 'cause well, electrical things aren't really my forte. Skipping lots of fiddling and switching lights around for hours, they still didn't work on Wednesday morning. So I go in and do my catering thing and try to decide if I can even be open with no lights. I'm a pretty easy going person, but this was really, really raising my stress level for pretty much, no good reason. So, I agonized for a bit and decided to go ahead and stay open. Mind you, this was after discussing (at length) whether or not I thought the state sanitation inspector would come in. It was decided that, no, she wouldn't come in now, 'cause last year she came in July. So we had a good month before she showed up. *is lauging hysterically* The sanitation inspector came walking into the cafe at 11:30am on Wednesday morning. Seriously, my life is one big, giant joke. Luckily, I had run around about an hour before that and red up a bit and made sure my santizer level was correct ('cause it wasn't last year *sigh*). So yeah, we passed with flying colors. It was just really strange that I was so worked up about it for no good reason. *shrug* I guess I just knew. No, I think I really just knew that crazy shit like that happens to me literally all the time. So why the hell not!? *L* As you can assume, hilarty insued all the rest of the day. *sigh* Seriously...

Oh! I also found Pinkalicious! I think it's the first book in the series. Or something like that. It's a partner book to Purplicious anyway. Aw... my niece is going to love it. I can't wait to give them to her. (Moki: I'll have to see if I can borrow them from her next March when I come to LA so you can read them. *grin*)

Probably next time you hear from me, I will be lying on a sandy beach getting a fabulous tan. *grin* I'll keep you all updated. 'Cause I know you care so much about the status of my tan. Hopefully I'll have some exciting, blog worthy stuff to throw in there too. Or at least family drama. Most likely family drama. I'll try my darndest to stay sane.

Also, apologies for the not cutting this entry. Like an idiot I accidentally clicked on the not allowing the website access to my clip board, so now I can't cut, copy or paste nothin'. *sigh* Why didn't I just type everything in the cut to begin with you ask. Good question. I have no answer, other than that my brain is mush. This week was extremely long, crazy and extremely long. That is all.

P.S. I went back and edited the entry and it let me cut and paste! Yay! Please disregard that last paragraph. *is shaking head* I need a vacation. *L*

P.S.S. Cake's Short Skirt/Long Jacket is absolute genius!

Pink and Purple!

So next week is my family's beach vacation. I'm going down for a couple days, which should be really nice. My niece's 3rd birthday is June 24th, but my sister always has a party for her while we're all together at the beach. This year my niece said she wants a pink and purple themed party. So I'm really excited 'cause I found a book today that's called Purplicious! It's about this little girl named Pinkalicious, who loves pink, but all the kids at shcool make fun of her and say that black is the new and only color that's cool. But then she meets a girl in her art class who uses pink in her painting of a blue cake to make the icing purple, and of course they're fast friends forever. It's really, really cute. I can't wait to give it to her.

Anyway, that's about the only exciting thing that's happened to me since I last posted. I am so boring! *L*

"How convivial" Aunt Jet - Practical Magic

Wasn't the writer's block question of the day "Pirates or Ninjas"? Pirates baby! *L*

I spent my Friday night at home watching Practical Magic (can you tell? *grin* I absolutely love that movie!), drinking diet coke and eating peppermint paddies. Oh, and nursing my very painful back ache. I don't even know what I did to it. I do know that it started yesterday afternoon after I unloaded a bunch of groceries for the cafe. I must have lifted something in a funny way. *sigh* Shit man! I am 80 years old. *is shaking head*

Oh! I saw a 1967 Chevy Impala tonight! In gold with a white hard top. *swoon* That is all.

Apparently I'm a "hot lesbian" *L*

Back in, I think it was March, my best friend ('C') and I went to another friend's birthday party. The party was at the bar where she worked, so a lot of her work friends were there, and C and I didn't really know them. We all got introduced and had a couple drinks and generally had a good time. Anyway, yesterday C met up with the birthday girl and had lunch. Apparently, one of the girls we met on the birthday party night came up to the birthday girl after we left and asked her, "Who were your hot lesbian friends?" Birthday girl said, "I don't have any hot lesbian friends." And she said, "Yes you do, the red head and the girl with the mohawk." *is shaking head* When I heard this I had a little bit of a breakdown. I mean, if they only knew how obsessed I am with men! (Mostly 'cause I don't have one of my own right now, but I digress... *L*) But yeah, I can't help it that C and I work together and spend a good portion of our off-time together as well. When you spend that much time with somebody you automatically start finishing each others' sentences and bickering like an old married couple. *facepalm* No wonder she thought we were a couple! *L* So yeah, the more I think about it the funnier (and less traumatizing) it gets. Anyway, thought you guys might enjoy a good laugh. *sigh* My life is one big giant joke. I'm just glad I heard about this after all that good stuff happened yesterday.

Oh! Also, I went (with C *L*) to see Prince Caspian last night. It... was... awesome! And very stressful. *L* The first Narnia movie (The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe) felt so familiar when I was watching it, mostly 'cause I think it followed the book so closely. Which was really cool. I really didn't remember Prince Caspian like the first one, so I think that might be part of it. But really, it was very stressful! The whole duel with Peter and that other king and well, just all the battle scenes! Is it sad that Narnia stresses me out? *L*

And does it make anyone else feel old that Matchbox Twenty has a greatest hits album? *is shaking head*

Ok, so yesterday I finished my insurance audit. Yay! \o/ And today after work I met with the business broker, basically to find out if I, in fact have anything to sell. According to her, I do! And they've sold 5 business like mine in the last 6 months. Apparently cafes sell quickly. And I'd be able to sell it for enough that all my bills would be paid off! Yay! \o/ I feel so much better about this.

Now I just have to figure out what to do with myself. *sigh* Oh the possibilities. *grin*

Weekend Update (While I'm waiting for my sleep aid to kick in. Damn insomnia! *is shaking fist*)

This weekend was soooo long! I'm glad it's over, actually. Which is weird 'cause now I have a whole week of work crap (and it's a bit more than usual actually. *sigh* See meeting with the business broker and being audited on my worker's compensation insurance policy. Ah! *is pulling hair*) coming up.

Saturday: My friend from Germany (a.k.a. 'K') graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with her masters degree in Criminology. She doesn't have many friends in the States, so myself and her two other friends ('C' and 'L') that are here went to the graduation. Now, 'L' lives outside Philadelphia, so we drove to her apartment and took Septa into the city. Turns out we hopped the wrong train (it didn't stop at University City, only 30th Street), so we had to book it nine blocks to make it to the church (which was on Penn's campus) on time. (*giggle* \o/ Oldies song reference for the win!) And yay for only having to ask for directions two times! Of course I was wearing inapporpriate, but absolutely adorable sandles, which really weren't good for the walking. And probably not really cute enough to have been worth the blisters. The things we do for fashion. In my defence though, we only had to walk that much because of a mistake.

Next, 'K''s boyfriend had planned a surprise party for her after the graduation reception, so 'L', 'C' and I caught the train back to 'L''s to get her car to get to the party. While we were there I decided to change out of my evil sandles to more comfortable shoes (Yay for my foresight in throwing in my favorite platform flip flops!). While unlocking my car door I happened to notice that someone had backed into the driver's side passenger door. *fists of rage* So now I have a gigantic dent in my door. Poor car. And the bitch didn't even leave a note! (I know it was a bitch 'cause apparently she hit one of 'L''s other friends' cars back in November. She didn't leave a note then either, but some guy walking his dog saw her do it and chased her down, copied her license plate number and called the police. Oh, and I'm also sure it was 'cause her parking spot was perfectly lined up for the collision and the paint color was right.) Why, oh why wasn't someone walking their dog when she hit my car!? *sigh* So yeah... The party was fun though. *shrug* We played some video game with Donkey Kong, music and bongos. I have no idea what it was called, but it was fun and a little bit addicting. (Like I need another vice. *is rolling eyes*)

Sunday: I had to go to Costco today to get catering stuff ('cause I'm catering breakfast tomorrow) and groceries for the cafe (since I was there). Now, I make it a rule to never go to Costco on a Sunday, 'cause well... it's hell. I'm not even kidding. Oh, and it was pouring down rain today too. *L* My life is such a joke! Anyway, then I had to do a bit of baking. So, all in all, today wasn't nearly as exciting as yesterday. Still though, glad that it's over.

So, I'm getting a bit sleepy, (Yay Sleep Aid!) so I'm gonna call it a night. Except I must mention Thursday's Supernatural season finale! Ah! Yeah, that's about all I can say. Oh, and that I had to smoke half a pack of cigarettes to calm myself down afterwards. Poor Dean. Eric Kripke is cruel. What did he say? "Create characters that you love. And then torture them."? Yeah. He is an evil, evil, little man! But I must say, the singing of Bon Jovi was just plain awesome!

Oh! And I almost forgot. I just found out that Jensen is shooting My Bloody Valentine in Pennsylvania! How cool is that!? Unfortunately it's not like, in my town. So the only thing I can do is pray that he'll get an (inexplicable - 'cause why?) burning desire to see Amish Country. *is crossing fingers* I am so sick. *L*

Bitter? Nah. Jaded? Maybe... I'm gonna go with disenchanted.

Ok... After losing no pounds (even though I'm starving!), smoking three packs of cigarettes and two failed attempts at winning Powerball this week, I've discovered this...

I have to be careful. I think that I'm right on the edge between jaded and bitter and I'm tipping towards the latter a little too much. Though I like disenchanted the best. I've recently discovered that I can't even enjoy romantic comedies (a.k.a. 'chick flicks') anymore. Is it because the whole romantic comedy formula is tired? I'd like to think that, but mostly I just sit there in disbelief thinking, "That would never happen in real life! *scoff*" I mean, one of my very favorite movies, Home For The Holidays, has had all the 'magic' (if you will) sucked out of it. And you know at the end when Dylan McDermott shows up on Holly Hunter's plane (with the lamp and the orange juice)? Now you're thinking, "Oh! I love that part! It's so cute!", right? Yeah well, my friends actually yelled at me when I said my "That would never happen! *scoff*" I'm starting to get a bit worried. Am I destined to become an old maid with 20 cats, who can't enjoy romantic comedies (which isn't even my favorite movie genre to begin with!), and who eats condensed cream of potato soup out of the can, and yells inapporpriate things at little girls on the street (a la "There's no prince coming to save you! The only one who will ever do anything for you is yourself! Romantic movies are a crock! Bahumbug!")? *sigh*

*L* Now you're all thinking I'm crazy, right? Well, I probably am. (But as I've recently heard a very wise man say, "You're crazy, you're not crazy, you're depressed, you're not depressed. As long as you can still function try not to think about it so much." Is that awesome advice, or what!? *L*) Now if you'll excuse me, I think I'll go eat some Ben & Jerry's and watch some more Supernatural (which I have no trouble suspending my disbelief to enjoy, and which steers me pretty much a hundred miles clear of any sappy 'unbelievable' romantic stuff). Bring on the sugar rush, the ghosts, the gore, the classic muscle car and oh yeah, the pretty! *grin*

Oh, and I've realized that I'll proabably have to come up with a back-up plan regarding the money situation. Some how, no matter how much I want it, I doubt I'll win Powerball. But wouldn't that be awesome! I mean, what I couldn't do! The cafe wouldn't even be an issue! *is daydreaming*

My ass has been kicked *sigh*

So I got the feeling early this morning that today wasn't gonna be so good. Boy was I right! *sigh* I actually just got home after working 14 hours straight and I am wiped!

Some lady called and ordered like a million breakfast things for catering tomorrow morning. Oh, and she called at lunch and we were super busy (which is good, of course - the being busy, I mean) and talked forever! Then of course we didn't have everything that we needed so I had to call in back-up (ie. my mom *L*) and send her to the grocery store while I took care of the lunch crowd. I had to make three different kinds of muffins, sticky buns (which are absolutely ridiculous! first they have to rise for 2 hours and then they have to rise again after you punch it down and roll it out, and well... there are just too many steps), and then I had scrape the cheese filling out of some danishes and replace it with cherry and apple 'cause the bakery where I get them only had cheese (yeah, I'm not even trying to make danish! Are you kidding me!?). Ok, I just had to complain a bit. Now I'm gonna go type up the receipt and go to bed. And I don't even get to sleep in tomorrow (my day off, mind you) 'cause I gotta get up and go deliver this freakin' catering! And I can pretty much guarantee that they won't even eat half this food. She ordered way too much and I tried to tell her, but she didn't listen. The customer is always right, yeah? *sigh*

Oh, and we have another lunch catering order tomorrow too, and I gotta do my quarterly payroll taxes tomorrow too. *double sigh* *triple sigh* Boy will I be happy to get a normal job.

(Kinda like the cowboys?) *L*">
I just ordered three pairs of absolutely awesome platform flip-flops! Yay! They are a necessity in my summer wardrobe ('Cause I'm really short. Like really...) and my last pair broke last summer. Yeah, they actually broke when I was wearing them. We were shopping on vacation and I ended up having to try to keep my foot in the shoe by dragging my leg around in each store until I found some suitable replacements. Well, they were only semi-suitable because they weren't platform, but what can you do? So yeah, I've been searching for new ones ever since and I couldn't find them anywhere! It was heartbreaking, really. But I was talking to my sister last weekend and she told me that she had found a website called, MyDivasCloset that had platform flip-flops! Yay! So she sent it to me last night and I logged right on and ordered three pairs! Even though I honestly can't afford it (insert the "poor me, I'm broke 'cause people are stupid and won't come into the cafe" whining here), but as I said... necessity. So I really had no choice in the matter. Oh, and the website was a bit stripper-y, so I was a little scared at first, but I managed to soldier on and find what I was looking for. It was totally worth it. *nods*

Oh, and did everyone see the Supernatural Convention in Dallas/Fort Worth planned for June 6!? Why do they always do this to me!? I got myself all worked up until I went and saw how much the tickets cost. *sigh* Plus, I'd probably still have to spring for a hotel room 'cause my brother lives in Houston, not Dallas. *is shaking fist* Darn him! All I can say though is, I wanna go! Ack! I'm almost pretty 100% sure that I won't have the cafe closed down and I won't have gotten another job at that point, so... credit cards anyone? *L* I guess I'll have to see who I can talk into possibly going with me *cough*
rusticreel*cough*, and when my family's vacation is ('cause I get the feeling that it's sometime around then). We'll see. *is crossing fingers*

Oh! I forgot to tell a pretty much awesome piece of news regarding the cafe shut-age. So, last Thursday my friend (who works for me) and I were sitting out on her deck *cough*chainsmoking*cough* and talking about how ridiculous our lives are ('cause they really are!). At one point I believe I faced the heavens and exclaimed, "God! This is so not even funny anymore! What's going on!?" Or something to that affect. Anyway, the next day I got a letter in the mail at the cafe from a business brokerage saying that they've had success selling businesses similar to mine in the area and that they might have a buyer for my business! Now is that not cause for a woot! or what!? So yeah, I guess I should have known better than to poke at God about it 'cause you know when push comes to shove, God can always push hardest. So yeah... I'm feeling way better about the whole thing since then. I haven't really gotten a chance to check out the brokerage, and I'm not even sure if I'm gonna go with them for sure or not, but it just gave me the <strike>sign</strike> momentum I needed, I guess. Kinda like God said, "Yeah, pay attention! Get yourself moving 'cause you're on the right track! And things will get better!" So yeah... Plus, I haven't felt totally overwhelmed about looking for a job now either. I guess, I'm just in a better headspace all around. I'm actually more excited about all the changes than anything now. Which is absolutely awesome! Yay!

Procrastination, a wonderful thing.

So I'm sitting here nursing my last cup of coffee, being indecisive on my work musical choices (Ingrid Michaelson, Billie Holiday, The Killers?), admiring my new tattoo (*squee*), and pretty much doing anything that I can to avoid starting to work on my personal income taxes (not to be confused with my quarterly payroll taxes for the cafe, which are due at the end of April *sigh*). Hmm... maybe a little Matchbox Twenty? Oh the '90s...

I also just finished watching clips from Jared's panel at Eyecon in Florida this last weekend. That man is adorable. Which reminds me, Moki, my dear, when are you posting your report for the LA Convention last weekend!? I'm running low on procrastination materials! *L* I think really I'm just grouchy 'cause I have to work on my day off. Which I've had to do for the last two years, so really, I should be used to it. Right? Well, it's still a drag. How about The Black Crowes? Or James Taylor? Hm...

On the up side though, I'm starting to feel like I can pull myself out of my pit of wallowing depression about the whole cafe closing thing. Which is definitely a good thing. My last loan bought me a false sense of security and enough time to <strike>be depressed and sad</strike> consider my options before I actually had to move and do something. I could move to DC with my sister, Houston with my brother... Oh! and I've had offers of couches from Moki and Abs, so... I'm feeling pretty good. *grin* Plus, I can pretty much pack up my knife kit and find a job at restaurants/bars anywhere, but especially big cities. Pixies or a little Ozzy? Or... maybe no music at all? Supernatural, anyone? Or I guess I don't really have to go anywhere. My friend and I have been talking about getting an apartment in the city (*gigglesnort* City!? I guess it's considered a city. *L*) All I know is that I'm scared out of my wits, but I'm extrememly excited at the same time. Yay to starting completely new things! *claps hands*

Ok, ok... I'm running out things to ramble on about. Plus, my coffee is cold so I should go warm it up. Wish me luck. Into the breach I go... *L*

Hee *grins*

Ok, so the weekend was fun. Though we ran a bit short on activities for Sunday morning 'cause we had already walked around town and done all the shopping we could afford to do on our limited budgets. (Plus we ordered movies in the hotel room and man can I say what a rip off that was! Sheez! Though Juno is an absolutely adorable movie.) Anyway, we spent Sunday doing this...

Don't mind my chippy nail polish. *blushes* I've been meaning to pedicure/repaint, but I guess I'll have to wait now 'til my new tattoo is all healed up! *squee*

Also, future reference if any one of you decides to get a tattoo on your foot - It hurts like a bitch! (Much worse than the one I have on my hip.) But I'd totally do it over again in a second. It was very spur of the moment, but totally fun and worth it.

Oh! Should I explain what it is? Well, it's a triquetra. Which stands for mind, body, spirit; the three phases of a woman's life (maiden, mother, crone); and it is also a symbol for the Trinity. It was the first tattoo that I ever wanted. I just never got around to getting it. Hee, now I have it! I have a feeling that when I explain it to my parents though, that I'm gonna maybe only say the religious symbolism part. Who can argue with God? Right? *L*

Of course this also means that I'm set back on my half-sleeve for a bit 'cause my tattoo fund is slightly diminished. Plus, I'm pretty sure I'm gonna wait 'til I'm moved away from my parents a bit. (Which is coming up sooner than I like to think - That's totally my depression talking. *L*) So... *shrug* I guess I"ll just say - To Be Continued...

Insomnia, anyone?

I played hide-'n-seek for 3 hours this afternoon. Hee...

I haven't been sleeping all that well this week. Son of a bitch insomnia! Which is bad, 'cause my niece and nephew are staying with us for the week. (My sister and her husband are in London on government business (yes, thee United States Government), on his part. - That was the part where I try to impress you with my high-falutin' contacts. Were you impressed? *is trying to keep a straight face*) Anyway, I love, love, love those two more than just about anything, but they're a little much when you're low on sleep and energy. I'm really just praying that I'll still want kids of my own sometime in the next 100 years. Because, honestly? It scares me to death! But then I also have to remind myself that you're not automatically saddled with a five year old and a two year old. You work up to that, if you will. And thank goodness for that! Then I'm a little less afraid. But still... Oh! Who am I kidding!? I still want lots and lots of crazy, dirty little boys running around. *shrug* I may be a little unbalanced.

Also, my baby brother is turning 21 tomorrow. He can't be 21! He's my baby brother! Ya know!? I felt the same way when he turned 16 and got his driver's license and I guess I survived that. I am pretty excited though 'cause none of his friends are old enough yet, so I get to take him out and show him the ropes. *grin* It's gonna be a great night! (Though, I'm not naive enough to think that not a drop of alcohol has touched his virgin lips before tomorrow night. I mean, I was practically Mother Teresa in highschool/college and even I drank, so I may be sleep deprived, but I'm not deluded.)

Then, on Saturday I'm headed to New Hope with a friend. We're meeting up with two other friends who live in Philly to spend the weekend eating good food, drinking and doing a little shopping. Should be a good time. Except I accidentally got a king size bed in our hotel room (there is a pull-out sofa), but still... "Are you two here for antiquing? Hm... you just look the part." *L* My friend has been saying she's going to be mentioning in a not-so-quite voice that I can have the sofa bed when we're checking in.

One final thought: I'm watching Supernatural as I'm writing this! Yay! It's back from hiatus! Yay! And only a few more weeks 'til new episodes! I missed my boys. Especially with all the new videos and accounts (which I've been trying really, really hard not to read/watch) from last weekend's convention in LA. *sigh* Maybe next year.

"Peace of Mind"

"It's easy to cure something that no one has ever thought of. If your eyeballs start turning into thumbs, eat some jelly beans. I'll send you the bill." - Doug Benson, Best Week Ever

*collapses in giggles*

I spent today doing semi-essential things and relaxing while doing them. Ah... it was a pretty good day. For example, after I slept in, I went to Wal-Mart and got a wireless card for my laptop. Yay for high-speed internet! I also purchased an oil filter and oil while I was there 'cause my poor little car needed a change. It really is fun for me to do 'car stuff'. It still amazes me that I get joy out of something like basic car maintenance. Oh, and I didn't pinch my hand in the jack stand like I did last Saturday when I was changing the oil in my friend's car. She's lucky I'm a good friend! *L* Especially 'cause her filter is absolutely impossible to get to and her car is so low that I even need to use a jack stand! But I still don't mind! And I like smelling like cigarette smoke and motor oil and having dirt under my fingernails. How feminine and glamorous of me, huh? Hm... sounds like I should really consider going to auto mechanic school, huh? *grin*

Now, if you'll excuse me I think I'll go watch a few more episodes of Supernatural (while cleaning up the joint, of course). *sigh* Is it depressing that I'm depressed that Supernatural isn't coming back until the end of April? I miss my Dean! *L*

I'm alive, if only barely. *smirk*

So, I managed to survive the day mostly intact, and avoided any awkward conversations as to why I'm still single and the good ol' "Hey! I totally know someone that I can set you up with!". *sigh*

Though I must say the absolute best part of the day was helping my nephew (5) and niece (2) hunt Easter eggs. They are such darlings. Darlings with a bit too much energy, but darlings the same. I love getting to be the 'fun' aunt. Oh, and it was a gorgeous day and my grandparents have an awesome yard (where I spent many, many hours as a child) so I spent most of the day outside with the 'kids'. Maybe that was how I avoided all that dull grown-up <strike>badgering</strike> small talk. I really think kids are onto something, you know, with the having of fun.

Disclaimer: I feel I should explain myself regarding the lack of my enthusiasm to spend any sort of extended time period with my family. Now, I love them more than anything, but they're... you know, my family! *L* Mostly, I think I'm just misunderstood. More specifically, they're all paired up and in happy little couples and they can't seem to understand why I'm not right there with them. And I can't really just come out and say that I'm waiting for my guy who says 'Yahtzee!', now can I? They just wouldn't get it. Seriously though, I'm convinced that it's nothing more than a lack of selection. I mean, a good 95% of the good available men (of appropriate age) in my area are already taken. And I'm not even joking on that statistic. I really need to get out of here! You know, the whole bigger sea, more fish thing. So anyway... hope that explains everything and ya'll don't think that I'm some sort of scary, hateful person who can't stand her family. *shrug* You'll probably think instead that I'm horribly unattractive, hopelessly obsessed, way too picky, and that I'll die an old maid, but I guess I'd rather have that than the other 'cause I really do love them. Oh, and please don't tell me if you think I'm gonna die an old cat lady eating cream of potato soup out of the can, 'cause well... I kinda need the hope that something good is coming along to get me through my days. Especially now, with the cafe closing, finding a new job, finding a new place to live, etc. So yeah, thanks. *grin*

"Paper, Plastic ... Pants?"

Ok, so I just thought this was absolutely too funny not to share. Seriously, I'm laughing as I'm typing.

This happened over the weekend at a local all night grocery store. And I must say, the newspaper article detailing everything was probably the funniest part of the whole thing. Especially the pictures from the surveillance camera! Also, I'm sorta disappointed that I didn't get to see it happening 'cause my good friend literally lives right behind the grocery store and I was leaving her house at about the time all this was going on. Oh, and her mom works at the grocery store too, so some of this is from the paper and some is from my friend's mom.

Now what is "all this" you ask.

Ok... so a guy was staying across the street from the grocery store at the fancy schmancy hotel with his girlfriend. On Saturday night he went to a party somewhere and then came back to the hotel. At which point he fell asleep. Sometime later he woke up and (I'm guessing he was extremely high and probably drunk too) was driving a forklift around the hotel (they're doing renovations). He crashed the forklift into an interior wall, damaging some sewer pipes. He got sewage on his clothing so he stripped naked. Then decided he wasn't clean enough so he jumped into the indoor pool. After that "Naked Guy" decided he needed some cigarettes so he headed across the street (which happens to be a major highway), still naked mind you, to the grocery store. Once inside he damaged a whole lot of stuff (including ovens and scales at the deli and other stuff, $40,000 in total) and then got in line at the check-out to get his cigarettes. *is snickering* The clerk acted all normal and said, "How can I help you?" He said that he wanted some cigarettes. The clerk said she didn't know what to do 'cause he obviously didn't have a wallet. *is snickering some more* The man behind him in line was kind enough to buy "Naked Guy" the cigarettes. At this point the police hadn't yet arrived so "Naked Guy" stood at the front of the store and smoked a couple cigarettes. *L* He's now in jail with bail set at $300,000. And his girlfriend left him and went home! *L* Oh, and a quote from the paper said that the "Front End Supervisor" said that, "It was more fun than a girl should have." *is back to snickering*

My friend said that her mom got quite an ear-full when she went into work on Sunday. One of the baggers said, "He really shouldn't be walking around naked if that's all he has to show for it!" *collapses in giggles* Which is a complete shame 'cause he looked kinda cute in the surveillance video pictures. And really, they should cut him a break! He had just been swimming and it was kinda cold on Saturday night. *L* Now come on! Is that not one of the funniest things you've ever heard! Or is that just me and the fact that nothing exciting ever happens where I live? I'm just all disappointed that I was literally feet away and missed it all. *sigh*

And a big "thank you!" to phoenix_rose_up for telling me how to do the "cut" thingie! It is a wonderful thing! And I'm sure you all are just as thankful. *L*
